Relationship between Monocarboxylate Transporter 4 (MCT-4) Expression and Breast Cancer Clinicopathology and Subtype in Sanglah General Hospital, Denpasar, Indonesia

Background: Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death in women developing countries. The activity Warburg and Reverse-Warburg effects on breast reflected by expression patterns two molecules, namely caveolin-1 Monocarboxylate Transporter-4 (MCT-4). MCT-4 a transmembrane transport protein that transports lactate from cytoplasm to intercellular fluid.Method: This cross-sectional analytical study determine relationship between clinicopathology subtypes. was conducted April May 2020 with 62 patients as samples Sanglah General Hospital, Denpasar. Analysis done SPSS 25.Results: A logistic regression analysis performed analyze dependent variable (MCT-4) covariates (stage, grade, subtype). Of three variables significantly associated expression, only clinical-stage subtype (luminal non-luminal) remained independently expression. clinical stage showed an adjusted OR 4.727 (p = 0.047; 95% CI: 1.109 - 21.922) 17.850 0.009; 2.069 154.003) , respectively. suggests has significant association clinical-stage, increasing risk progression more malignant (non-luminal) subtype.Conclusion: High subtypes, high histological-grade advanced cancer.
